Remedial Works
We are now undertaking light remedial works to ensure air tightness on existing as well as new build properties.
Methodology:
This is a service we’ve introduced by popular request in order to combat air leakage and ‘draughts’ felt in existing dwellings. We begin this service using lasers to measure your dwelling and making a 3D model of the inside of your dwelling from these measurements. We then install our air testing kit in your front door, to de-pressurize your dwelling by pulling air out of the dwelling through the front door.
This process will draw air through any holes in your building’s fabric into the dwelling, appearing as wind during the test, making these holes easily identifiable as our team moves through your dwelling. Our engineers will then conduct ‘lead identification’ identifying any areas of significant leakage within your home, taking photographs and making notes as to their locations, and running a test to get an overall holes size for your dwelling.
The fan is then switched off, this is when the remedial phase begins – focusing on the areas identified during leak identification, we’re able to seal these same day whilst on site (up to a certain size) using construction foam, silicone sealants and insulation. We then need to wait for any materials used to set enough that we can begin the next phase (this is typically around half an hour).
Once the materials used have set, we conduct a second air test, this is to ensure we’ve filled all of the holes identified during the leak identification phase, and double checking that any of our remedial works have set properly. We then run the second test, comparing this result to the initial result, in order to ensure we’ve made a significant difference to your home.
You then have the option of having a formally lodged air test certificate, we will then provide you with a report explaining the process undertaken, and the results of the works carried out.
